JOIN US FOR AN IMMERSIVE 10-DAY MUSIC FESTIVAL ON THE BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS OF CAL STATE CHANNEL ISLANDS, REVOLVING AROUND CHAMBER MUSIC, SOLO PERFORMANCE, SYMPHONIC MUSIC, AND CHORAL MASTERWORKS, WITH DAILY CONCERTS AND MASTERCLASSES, LEAD BY A WORLD-CLASS FACULTY
Festival Campus

Lyceum Oaks Summerfest finds its home on the beautiful university campus of CSUCI. Chamber music, private lessons, and classes in are held in the Central Bell Tower, and orchestral and choral rehearsals are held in large halls such as Malibu Hall or the Grand Salon. Performances are hosted on-campus in beautiful venues or off-campus in cathedral or art gallery settings. The campus Downtown Village has a number of restaurants and social areas, and is approximately a 10-minute drive from the beautiful beaches of Southern California, making off-hours enjoyable for visiting musicians.
Room and Board
Housing
Residency: Summerfest members may stay on campus at the CSUCI Dorms, with access to the gym, pool, and student union.
Off-Campus: Summerfest members who live in the area may commute.
Meals
Residency: Members enjoy meals at Islands Cafe, with a variety of dining selections at each meal. On-campus members enjoy 3 meals per day.
Off-Campus: Commuting members are provided lunch at Islands Cafe daily.
Transportation
Residency: Traveling members must arrange their own transportation to campus, including to and from the airport. Summerfest will provide transportation for all on-campus members to concerts and events.
Off-Campus: Commuting members must provide their own transportation to off-campus concerts and events.
Special Events
Archery Seminar
Both archery and music performance require calm and focused concentration, precise form, and a constant refinement of aim.
Full session members enjoy a one-day archery seminar with specialists who work with Summerfest faculty to hone the techniques and mental discipline involved in music and archery, enhanding performance and control.

Chamber Repertoire
(Full Session Only)
Full session members form chamber groups (small groups of 2 to 8 members). Musicians may request to be placed with other specific members, or request to be placed into groups by festival faculty. Chamber groups may submit requests
for repertoire assignments or be assigned repertoire by faculty.
Chamber groups study introductory works (such as Haydn Quartets), or study complex works (such as Mendelssohn’s Octet or Brahms’ Sextets). Mixed string/wind/brass/percussion groups are available.

Instrumental and Vocal
Instrumentalists and vocalists enrolled in the Solisti Program have access to private lessons, masterclass performances, and soloist recitals. Repertoire selection is entirely at the discretion of the musician, and may include:

Festival Registration
Registration Status: OPEN
Applicants may begin the registration process any time. To begin applicants must submit:
- Registration Payment
- A Completed Registration Form
Festival Pre-Season
The festival pre-season begins in April, which will include preliminary festival and financial information. Tuition invoices will be sent during this time. Applicants complete their registration during the pre-season by submitting:
- Their audition video for level and seating placement.
- The payment for their tuition invoice.
Video Criteria: Your video submission should be of a solo work(s) performed solo or accompanied. Wind, Brass and Percussion players may submit an orchestral excerpt or etude in place of a solo work. Vocalists may submit an excerpt from a choral work.
Full Session Members: 5+ Minutes In Length
Half Session Members: 3+ Minutes In Length
You may submit mutliple pieces, but your submission should be representative of your best technical and musical abilities. Your works do not need to be performed in their entirety, but must satisfy the time requirements. You may select cuts in your piece that represent your piece as a whole. Videos do not need to be made exclusively for Sumemrfest (you may submit other recital or audition videos), but must be recorded after September 1st of the current academic year. Professional recording is not required; you may film your video using a smart-phone.
To submit your video, upload it to YouTube, set the privacy to Public or Unlisted, and e-mail the video link to summerfest@lyceumoaks.org.
Only videos submitted via YouTube may be accepted. You may submit this video to the Summerfest office via e-mail at any time before the deadline. We encourage you to send in your video early for priority placement and seating in ensembles.

Full Session members may submit a request for chamber music partners or repertoire at any time.
